May 2012 - Mar 2013 IELTS tutor

After I graduated from medical school, the stupefyingly dull pharmacist life didn't interest me for too long. I resumed my pursuit of language and became an off-campus tutor.

Oct 2012 - Dec 2015 Fan translator

I started my game localizer career as a fan translator. It was a part-time hobby in the first place before I discovered my passion in words as a translator.

Jan 2016 - present Freelance translator

Now, I deliver the best for clients and support them in expanding into the Chinese community. Providing multiple services, I work on titles from AAA to indies, taking on roles in need.

03_EXPERIENCE

Red Dead Redemption 2

Final-Eye Editor Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in late 19th century America, involving two playable protagonists and their own character arcs. My duties include editing, history subject matter expert, client feedback response, batch postmortem, and LQA on 1.5m words.

Death Stranding

Translator Death Stranding is an AAA developed by Kojima Productions. The motif is about rope, an epitome of human connections. My main duty is translating, sometimes reviewing, if necessary, over 120k words in sum.

Transformer TCG

Subject Matter Expert Transformer TCG is a collectible card game in which players built teams of both Autobots and Decepticons. As the subject matter expert, my duties include lore support for the localization team, client feedback response, and necessary editing on 20k words.

Unusual Findings

Translator Unusual Findings is an adventure story of a teenager trio inspired by 1980s nostalgia. The game is set in an era of synthesizers, VHS Rental stores, 8 bits games, and evil alien conspiracies. The most exciting challenge is to find synchronous equivalences for the nostalgia terms in Chinese. My work sum is 35k words.

Vampyr

Translator Who doesn't love vampire stories? Vampyr is a story-riching RPG where players must decide a healer's fate who is also a killer basked in moonlight. The localization pitfalls include outdated terms, poem-wise puzzles, and, of course, vampire lore. My work sum is over 133k words.

Vampire Survivors

Translator Yes! Vampires again!! The hit receives rave reviews globally and enthusiastic players contributed their fan translations for the early builds. Challenging the existing fan glossary is always risky, but I embraced it anyway. My work sum is 5k words.

Guide for Unity Developers V4.1

Translator & Reviewer Knowing the terms in any techy articles is only the first step, the actual challenge is to understand how they work and how developers use them for real. Gladly, my delivery was appreciated by the client and they insisted I further review the next version. My work sum is 3k (TL) and 50k (RE).

Starting from 0.1 €/word. I charge fees case by case. If you need a unique language style to season the vibe, like Classic Chinese, then it requires more time and effort, or if your project depicts a deep world of lore and an argot system might be necessary, surely the quote increases as well.

Gamer Dictionary

Entertainment media is a straight avenue to affecting the contemporary Chinese corpus, hence, game translators are capable of shaping how natives speak in a way. To help the translator community, especially non-native colleagues who work in the opposite language pair, I am creating my own dictionary to help more people.
